It’s been over three years since My Chemical Romance released The Black Parade. Since then, the band has experienced a renaissance of sorts, and its members wanted to create an album that represented the band in its "purest, most distilled" form. So what does that mean? No more theatrics! This album is simply "stripped down." Frontman Gerard Way explained to NME, "It’s not going to be hiding behind a veil of fiction or uniforms and makeup anymore...This record’s about the truth and living and survival." He continued, "People just wanna [effin’] rock. I don’t know that people want to make statements right now...People just want the truth, and they don’t need a big story." This as-of-yet untitled work was written and recorded in L.A., with influences from Sex Pistols, MC5 and The Stooges. Some of the tracks that will be included are "Death before Disco," "Save Yourself," "The Only Hope for Me Is You" and "Light Behind Your Eyes," which was inspired by Way’s daughter, Bandit Lee. What about plans for an upcoming tour? Well, the guys are planning to hit smaller, more intimate venues rather than large arenas. The new album will be released sometime this year.
