Q: Why does my bank statement show two entries for the same order? Was I charged twice?
A: If you pay for your order with a debit card, your bank statement will show two entries at the same time, a pre-authorization and the final sale. The pre-authorization hold will fall off within a couple days, depending on your bank's policies. This hold allows us to verify that funds are available, allowing us to begin processing your order. Unfortunately, with a debit card, the pre-authorization hold and final charge aren't combined into one single transaction.
Q: What is a "Verbal Authorization" and why do you need one for my order to ship?
A: A brief conversation with a Customer Service Representative is sometimes necessary to verify credit card information. This is known as a "verbal authorization" and it protects cardholders from unauthorized purchases. Q: How do I pay by cashier's check or money order?
A: It's easy to pay with a cashier's check or money order. Once you have everything you want to purchase, call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, during business hours. We will enter your order and provide you with the order number, total dollar amount and payment address.
Please note: Hot Topic can only accept cashier's checks and money orders, not personal checks or cash. We will fill your order and hold the package until we receive your payment. Payment must be received within 10 business days or the order will be canceled.

Q: If I use a cashier's check or money order, when will my package be shipped?
A: Your package will be shipped upon receipt of your cashier's check or money order. Please keep this in mind when selecting your shipping method. As with all orders, please allow 2-3 business days for order processing.
Q: Can I pay with my Hot Topic gift card?
A: Yes! Once you get to your shopping cart, simply enter the gift card number(s) into the field(s) provided. Remember, if you're using four or more gift cards, you'll need to call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, during business hours, so we can place your order.
Q: Can I use my Torrid gift card for a Hot Topic order?
A: Sorry, but Torrid gift cards can't be redeemed at Hot Topic stores or at Hottopic.com.
Q: How much is left on my Hot Topic or Torrid gift card?
A: To find out how much is left on your Hot Topic gift card, just call Customer Service at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers. We'll be happy to give you your balance.
Q: What happens if I use a gift card but an item on my order is sold out?
A: If you've used a Hot Topic or Torrid gift card as payment for your order and an item has sold out, you'll be receiving a refund check in the mail. This refund process can take 2-3 weeks but before you know it, you'll have a check waiting for you in your mailbox!
Q: Can I pay with my Hot Topic paper gift certificate?
A: Paper gift certificates can be used online by placing your order over the phone. Once you've gathered up everything you want to purchase, call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, so we can place your order, provide you with an order number, total dollar amount, and payment address. We will fill your order and hold the package until we receive your paper gift certificate. Paper gift certificates must be received within 10 business days or the order will be cancelled.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN A PAPER GIFT CERTIFICATE UNTIL YOU HAVE PLACED YOUR ORDER WITH OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER.
Please Note: If your order total is more than the value of your paper gift certificate, you can include a money order or cashier's check for the difference.
CASH MAY NOT BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH PAPER GIFT CERTIFICATES.
If your order is more than the value of your paper gift certificate and you'd prefer to pay the remaining amount with a VISA, Master Card, Discover, or American Express card, we will enter that at the time of ordering. If your order is less than the value of the paper gift certificate, you will receive a refund check for the difference. If the difference is less than five dollars, you have two options: you may choose to upgrade your shipping option, or you can receive a refund check for the difference. The check will be automatically mailed to you within 45 days. We are very sorry, but paper gift certificates may not be exchanged for cash or credit.
