Songwriting and being on the road — those are two things that Chuck Ragan knows plenty about. As the frontman of Florida punks Hot Water Music, who also pursues a solo career as a folk troubadour in his spare time, Chuck has written more great songs (and racked up more highway miles) than we can count. Currently touring again in support of his most recent solo album, Gold Country, Chuck hit us with a ShockHound playlist of seven songs that provide him with endless inspiration while on the road. Take it away, Chuck...
1. Ben Nichols — Toadvine
I couldn't count the number of spins of this one, and have yet to grow tired of it.
2. Blaze Foley — Clay Pigeons
This man was a songwriter full of intrigue with a catalog that
couldn't be more underrated.
3. Bob Dylan — The Times They Are A-Changin'
Truly a song that I feel will always be relevant.
4. Chris Wollard & the Ship Thieves — You Always Leave
Fun moving rhythms with unexpected vocal melodies that exude brilliance.
5. Drive-By Truckers — The Righteous Path
Makes me want to hit the road, tired or not.
6. Leonard Cohen — The Old Revolution
What a story, what a song, what a voice.
7. The Low Anthem — To Ohio
Quite possibly my favorite band to listen to at the moment.
