The first-ever Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival is upon us! Slipknot and Disturbed will lead the much-buzzed-about amp-shattering road show, which will feature hard music’s most influential bands and its new wave of heavy-hitting acts. The tour will hit 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada between July 9th and August 19th.
Slipknot
The end is near, and there’s nothing you can do about it… except pick up a copy of Slipknot’s new album, All Hope Is Gone, on August 26th! Here’s what ‘knot member Corey Taylor has to say about it: “Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong." We’ll take your word for it, Corey. Oh, did we mention his is Slipknot’s first tour in 3 years? Maggots – we’ll see you in the pit!
Disturbed
"We're always trying to evolve and try new things and experiment. So this time
wewanted to do things a little bit differently," states Disturbed guitarist Dan Doneganof the new album, Indestructible. The result of Disturbed's experimentationin thestudio is the band’s darkest, angriest outing yet. "We wanted to get back to someof the elements that were maybe lacking on the last two records," continues Donegan. "David's got a great ability tosing really melodically, but we wanted him to get back to the rhythmic, animalistic,rapid-fire delivery he's known for. He's very hard to touch when he does that, and we wanted to give him music to provoke that."
DragonForce
DragonForce are a metal sensation of recent years, making their mark right across
the globe with a colossal run of shows topromote one of the genre’s most remarkable releases. Inhuman Rampage left the press in a state of critical meltdown. "While most bands want to be bigger than Metallica, DragonForce have the capacity to exceed Star Wars," gushed Metal Hammer magazine. And Kerrang! declared, "DragonForce are only getting bigger. Prepare for the onslaught." With a new album, Ultra Beatdown, due out in August, the DragonForce phenomenon is set to blaze even more trails around the world!.
Mastodon
Blood Mountain, Mastodon's third album, isn't just unconventional, it’s surreal,
progressive and heavy. Mastodon drew inspiration from within, combining theirfavorite musicalstyles like thrash, doom, prog and psychedelic metal to create something utterly original, undeniably devastating and irrefutably entrancing. With the release of Blood Mountain, Mastodon have reached the top of a peak, from which they can see other, even higher mountains before them. And that’s where they’re headed next, through working on the new album.
Underoath
Headlining the HotTopic Stage, "Underoath have become oneof the mostpunishing metalcore powerhouses around and--in the pouring rain--they delivered an astonishingly brutal set that proved them worthy of the buzz surrounding them," according to Revolver magazine. The band's as-yet-untitled new album is due out on September 2nd and the strength and explosive lure of Underoath is sure to continue in 2008.
Black Tide
Yeah, they're young. But that doesn't mean Black Tide can't shred with the best of 'em. These guys have a long list of influences, including everything from Iron Maiden to Guns N' Roses; Megadeth to Metallica. They've got a stellar work ethic as proven by the countless hours practicing in the garage. And now they've got a classic debut album in Light From Above. Go and catch 'em now you can say you were there first!
Be sure to check out the Jagermeister second stage with Machine Head, Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch and Walls Of Jericho. And the Hot Topic Stage, with Black Tide, Suicide Silence, The Red Chord and 36 Crazyfists.
And check this out: If ya like getting signatures, you're in luck! The dudes from Underoath and Black Tide will be hanging out and signing stuff in the Hot Topic tent on every date of the tour. Well, every date except Toronto. Sorry Toronto! We still think you rock.
The World's Greatest Freestyle Motocross team The Metal Mulisha is also confirmed to perform on all dates.
Don't miss out, because this all-star storm is set to blow you away!
