HT: What's the overall feedback you're getting from people that are seeing you live? Do you see crossover fans that may like music that's heavier?
JL: The basic phrase we have been hearing a lot is "refreshing & cathartic modern heavy rock with deep roots in classic rock & blues", which to me, is pretty spot on.

HT: The new album, What Have We Become, blasts off from the first release. How long did it take to complete it in the studio?
JL: A total of two weeks for all the music and because I had to travel a bit to record the remainder of the vocals.

HT: Some people say, "Jesse is the next Chris Cornell." How do you feel being compared to such a great singer? Is that a good thing?
JL: Yes and no. Honestly, I do not hear it, but I am extremely flattered. I just don't want to be painted into a corner. I feel like I have only begun to discover my true voice and range and I feel there is always room for more experimentation.

HT: The sound of Seemless is very backwoods, Southern, dirty rocker vibe. You can feel the soul behind the sound. What's the inspiration behind What Have We Become?
JL: Really, everyone in the band is in love with 70's and 80's rock 'n' roll. For me, I draw from the music I was raised on. Music in the 60s had a real message to it, like they were all in on a "music language" that extended to everyone. There was a message to the people from the people. I think a lot of modern rock music has lost that urgency to communicate, to spark a revolution in the mind. Also, I have a strong love for early punk and hardcore because the messages carried such an overwhelming urgency and energy. So, I feel like the album title is really a broad question to the masses that hold music sacred like I do. However, I feel like it far surpasses just music. I am talking about life...an open-ended question meant to provoke thought!

HT: How does this music come together? Does it start off all improvisational or a guitar riff and vocal rhythm?
JL: All of the above really. For the most part, the music comes first then we jam on it together and I will just freestyle off of what I get from the melody and the lyrics will follow.

HT: We read the article about you guys on MTV.com where you talked about life on the road and bringing your significant others. Does it have its days or is it the best of both worlds? Can they co-exist?
JL: Well, right now our wives are not with us. For me, my wife is working to pay our bills. I am ever grateful to her for allowing me to give this band thing a shot again. However, when we are comfortable enough financially, she will definitely be coming out. She is all woman, but she can hang with the guys like the best of them. I don't see her coming out for full tours, but man, she will be out for a few weeks when she can. It is always a good time with her - she rocks!

HT: Have you received some good feedback from other bands you look up to? What do they have to say about Seemless?
JL: Most of the bands I look up to are long gone. However, there are a few bands I dig, but I really don't know if they have heard us or not... I hope so. I hope they dig us. Either way, I've got to keep going no matter what anyone thinks about our music.

HT: So are you guys ever going to make it out to the West Coast?
JL: Yes! We will be out West in October and November (with Trivium and The Sword). Check out our MySpace page for details!
